Klaassen Advocaten was set up in 2001 by Roelant Klaassen, after whom the practice is named, and currently employs 4 lawyers, 2 paralegals and 7 support staff.

On 1 January 2008, Hans ten Katen and Bob Sinke have become co-partners in Klaassen Advocaten. Annelies Volker joined the practice on 1 August 2008 as a trainee.

The practice of Klaassen Advocaten focuses primarily upon commercial enterprises that are active both within the Netherlands and abroad in areas such as harbour, trade and transportation, including freight forwarding, warehousing, maritime transportation, transportation via inland waterways, rail and road transport, logistical services in the widest sense of the term, the purchase and sale of vessels, the construction and repair of vessels, trading companies from a variety of sectors and insurance companies and underwriters.

The branches of law that are typically covered include maritime law, the law of inland waterways, commercial law, insurance law, corporate and company law, the law of contracts and the law of collateral security.  In addition to these areas, Klaassen Advocaten also has built up special expertise in the field of insolvency law.

Over the years, Klaassen Advocaten has built up a substantial degree of expertise in the field of international contracting, particularly those involving parties in Russia and China and regularly collaborates with a number of law practices in Ukraine and Russia. It goes without saying that we also collaborate closely with law practices in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany.
